We're going to Star Wars Celebration in 2027!!!!!
We got through the queue around 2 hours after the sale started, and unfortunately 4-day passes were sold out by then. Individual days cost more, but after the insanity that was that ticket sale, I am so happy and grateful we managed to nab tickets for all 4 days.
The ticket sale was a bit of a shitshow. Combining the draw of the 50th Anniversary with this being the first Celebration in North America since 2022, then changing the venue to LA - a smaller convention center than Anaheim - was just asking for things to get overwhelming. Ticket availability wasn't being updated and with the death of Twitter ReedPop wasn't effectively communicating with people stuck in line, leaving people to hope and wait until hours after tickets sold out. I don't think scalpers were as big an issue as everyone claimed following the sale, it was just a perfect storm of demand coupled with crappy sale organization. Why ReedPop doesn't require individual profiles and logins to limit people clogging the queue with multiple devices, I will never understand. They use profiles for New York Comic Con, very similar to what San Diego does, and it works better than whatever this *waves hands* was.
We were also lucky to get a hotel reservation. We'll be about a mile from the convention center and can use the subway to access some sightseeing locations - I've done the Hollywood tourist thing before, but my husband hasn't and I want to visit Carrie's star on the Walk of Fame while we're there.
For now I'm dreaming of cosplay, ordering fabric samples, and wondering what panels and meet ups with be planned.
